Impact of Covid-19 lockdown on Serie A players’ physical qualities and match running activities

- During the 2019-20 competitive period, the Italian Serie A was stopped in an attempt to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus. For this unprecedented situation like millions of global citizens players were sent to mandatory home-isolation and they performed only home-based training sessions.
- The Covid-19 lockdown mainly affected some neuromuscular qualities of professional soccer players rather than aerobic capacity
- Along with some contextual factors, the lockdown influenced overall physical match activity and to a less extent high-speed running when the Serie A resumed.
